Here at Colleton County First Steps, we work with enrolled families in our community from the prenatal stage until those children are 5 years old. Our goal is to provide support to families in preparing the children of our county with success in education from Day 1 of school. We are an affiliate of Parents as Teachers – an evidence based home visiting program that works to guide and assist parents through the stages of their children’s growth and development. We provide 2 visits per month, 1 Group Connection per month, screenings and assessments to identify developmental concerns, and connections to outside resources that may be needed. Additionally, once a family has been in our program for a period of 3 months, the parent(s) can apply for an income-based daycare scholarship. These scholarships provide our parents with the opportunity to have peace of mind while working or returning to school themselves to complete degrees knowing their children are receiving quality child care.

If you are interested in participating in our program, please contact our Director, Cindy S. Riley, at 843-782-3634.

We look forward to hearing from you!!

Watching my son during the lesson with his teacher and becoming excited about his new books was the best part of the Countdown to Kindergarten experience.

Working with Cindy and her team at Colleton County First Steps has been a great experience!  It’s clear they care deeply about the families and community they serve.  I’ve enjoyed helping to build a website that helps showcase the amazing things they’re doing!
